Colorado Swim School was founded in January of 2013. The Colorado Swim School is led by the husband and wife team of Brent and Stephanie Scarbrough. Brent was a competitive swimmer who spent his summers teaching swimming lessons through high school and college at the Houston Swim Club. Stephanie grew up swimming in the lakes of Maine and Vermont, where learning to swim was a necessity. Her mother was the director of the swim program so she spent her summers in the water. Stephanie has a background in child development and has a passion for children. She has a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology and holds a Professional Elementary Teaching License. She has been an elementary school teacher for the past ten years and has worked with a diverse population of students with a broad range of abilities. Stephanie has a passion for teaching children with special needs and abilities.
Brent and Stephanie have two elementary-aged children of their own; one of whom is on the autism spectrum. Their goal is to make Colorado Swim School an inviting environment for all children where each child has a positive learning experience. Brent, Stephanie, and the CSS team are dedicated to developing safer swimmers who are comfortable in and around water.
Colorado Swim School is a proud and active member of the United States Swim School Association. We also belong to the World Aquatic Baby Congress and the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. We continually strive to improve our knowledge by attending conferences and staying involved with these great organizations.
